Our Richmond attorneys handle serious motorcycle accidents, bus accidents, and tractor-trailer accidents. Our injury lawyers can also evaluate whether you are entitled compensation due to medical malpractice, as well as defective medical devices, including hernia mesh. In addition, we are highly skilled in the area of immigration law, protecting our clients’ interests to the fullest extent in order to protect their freedom and help them achieve their immigration goals.
What Is a Personal Injury Lawsuit?
When you suffer from an accident or injury, you can sue the person or company you believe to be legally responsible for the accident. If you succeed, the insurance company of the responsible party will cover some or all of your related expenses. But you don’t need to attempt this on your own. Personal injury attorneys from Portner & Shure can represent you in either an informal negotiation or a civil court proceeding.
Personal injury—even minor forms—can inflict devastating consequences on all aspects of your life. You may not be able to work. You may struggle to move around without assistance. Everyday tasks may have become challenging or even impossible.
After suffering an injury due to negligence, the first step you need to take is finding a lawyer who will educate you about your rights and devise a strategy to hold all responsible parties accountable. At Portner & Shure, we help Richmond clients obtain compensation for a wide range of damages, including medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
When you employ our team during your legal dispute, you will benefit from exceptional skills, years of experience, a proven history of success, and aggressive litigation tactics. We will dedicate our time and resources to your case, working to prove you have suffered damages and others are liable for those damages. Our goal is to get you the compensation you deserve.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO FILE A PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM?
Accodedmign to Virginia law, there is a two-year statute of limitations on personal injury cases. This means you have two years from the date of your injury to file a claim or you may lose your right to pursue compensation. If your claim is against a city of town worker or entity the statute of limitations changes to six months. Likewise, if your injury claim is against the state of Virginia you have one year to file a claim.
We have a national reputation as a premier law firm. We are recognized by the Top 100 Trial Lawyers, rated 10/10 by AVVO, and recognized by the Best Attorneys of America. Further, Mr. Portner is a member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum® and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum®. Fewer than 1% of all trial attorneys are recognized by this prestigious organization.

Serving Short Pump, Williamsburg & Dinwiddie
Our convenient Richmond area office is easily accessible to all our clients from Short Pump, Dinwiddie, and Williamsburg, addressing the legal needs of the people living in these communities.
As Short Pump’s population has increased in recent years so has the amount of serious automobile accidents. Further, with the development of more commercial properties, such as the Short Pump Town Center and other massive shopping and living spaces, most notably West Broad Village, the area has seen a rise in both construction and slip and fall accidents.
Dinwiddie County is a small community enriched in American History, specifically the civil war era. Before there were accidents in Dinwiddie, there was the Battle of Lewis’s Farm, Battle of Five Forks, Battle of Sutherland’s Station, Battle of White Oak Road, and notably, the Battle of Dinwiddie Court House. Our attorneys will now battle in the Dinwiddie courthouse for our clients.
Williamsburg is one of the oldest cities in the U.S., making it a popular tourist attraction due to its historical significance. Additionally, it is home of one of the biggest amusement parks in the nation, attracting even more tourists to the area. With tourists flooding to Williamsburg, non-locals unaccustomed to the roads are frequently causing accidents. We also see a number of local and out-of-state driver DWIs in this region.
