Towson is of the largest cities in Maryland and is best known for Towson University, the second largest university in Maryland with more than 20,000 students. In addition, Towson has a downtown area with several bars and restaurants, making drunk driving arrests a common occurrence.
Driving while impaired by alcohol, commonly referred to as DWI, is a lesser offense than DUI, driving under the influence of alcohol. Maryland Code for Transportation §21-902(b)(1) states that it is considered prima facie evidence (on its face) that the person is impaired by alcohol where there is a blood or breath test that results in a blood alcohol reading of 0.07. Driving while impaired is a statutory misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of two months in jail and/or a $500 fine. In addition, the Motor Vehicle Administration can impose its own penalties, including eight points on your license, and the possibility of a suspension of your driver's license or privilege to drive.

Birth injuries occur far too often. One of the most common is cerebral palsy, which is a neurological disorder that can result from brain damage sustained before, during, or after birth. Cerebral may result from a difficult delivery where the birth canal is too small or the fetus is too large. The head of the fetus is usually the first part to enter the birth canal, therefore, experiencing most of the pressure during the birthing process. Costs providing proper care for a child with cerebral palsy over a lifetime can exceed millions of dollars. Fortunately, awards in cerebral palsy birth injury cases are usually substantial because of the long-term effect of the condition and high cost of medical care.
