The U.S. government has confirmed that Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for El Salvador ends on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. After that date, TPS itself no longer provides protection from removal or permission to work.
Your work permit. If your TPS work permit (category A-12 or C-19) shows an earlier expiration date but you filed a renewal that is still pending, USCIS has said it is valid only through September 9, 2026. If you have a work permit based on something other than TPS (for example a pending asylum or green card application), that permit is not affected by this change.
