Earlier this month, a trial was scheduled for a fatal accident case that occurred in Fairfax County, Virginia. The accident, which occurred in 2013, involved a car, which our client was a passenger, which was run off the road into an unmarked construction zone. There was a lane of travel that was part of the construction zone, but it had not been properly marked or closed off. The vehicle our client was inside then crashed into a backhoe, which then caused the car to burst into flames. Our client and the driver of the vehicle did not survive the accident.
Settlement negotiations were ongoing for several weeks, even right up to the day before a week-long trial was scheduled to begin. Even with negative facts for our client, we still successfully negotiated a settlement for $650,000 for our client’s estate.
