Attorneys Kevin Ruby and Jonathan Portner recently settled a bicycle accident case for a policy of $250,000. This case arose because our client was struck by a car as he was riding his bicycle on the shoulder of Gunston Road in Fairfax, Virginia. The car struck the bicycle’s back tire, and as a result, our client was ejected onto the hood and windshield of the car that hit him. The accident occurred because the driver of the car approached our client on the bicycle trying to pass him, and they did not move over enough to safely make the pass. The collision occurred and our client sustained several serious injuries, including torn rotator cuffs to his left and right shoulders. Treatment included two surgeries to repair each tear.
