Marlena Konopka is a first-generation Polish American. Having seen family and friends faced with adversity while navigating a complex immigration system, she approaches her mission of advocacy in the immigration field with compassion and dedication.
Marlena earned her B.S. degree in International Politics from Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service. Upon graduating, she spent a year working as a paralegal for the Fraud Section of the U.S. Department of Justice before enrolling in law school. Marlena earned her Juris Doctor degree at American University Washington College of Law. While studying at WCL, Marlena fortified her passion for immigration law as a student attorney from the Immigrant Justice Clinic, representing clients before the Immigration Court.
Before Portner & Shure, Marlena gained extensive experience representing clients seeking immigration benefits and relief before the Immigration Court, USCIS, and consulates abroad.
Marlena is a member of the Virginia State Bar and is fluent in Spanish and Polish.
