More Paved Roads Coming to Loudon County, Virginia

Loudon County, Virginia residents will soon have more paved roads. Loudon County has the most lane miles of unpaved road of any county in Virginia." Unpaved roads make driving conditions dangerous and can lead to serious automobile accidents.

Virginia state government lacked funding in previous years to be able to initiate paving projects for the unpaved dirt and gravel roads in Loudon County. In the years ahead, the county will implement a "pave-in-place" approach to make these roads safer for drivers. Over the next six years, the county expects to have $7 million available to spend on paving gravel roads.

Loudon County is Virginia's third most populous county with close to 350,000 people. The county includes cities such as Leesburg, Ashburn, and Sterling. Due to the county's close proximity to Washington, D.C. and its large population, many people have to drive on unpaved roads. Dangerous road conditions are a leading cause of automobile, truck, bus, and motorcycle accidents. Paving these treacherous roads should lower the threat of Virginia car accidents in the area in the future.
