Karen Sowers

Karen Sowers, who has worked in Maryland workers' compensation law for more than 30 years, joins Portner and Shure. She started her professional life as a legal secretary for in-house counsel at a well-known insurance company in the Baltimore region. She earned an associate's degree in paralegal studies while working a full-time job and attending evening classes at the college. She has now worked for a number of defense and claimant-focused firms, but she still feels a strong connection to the injured worker.

Born and raised in South Baltimore and a graduate of the former Institute of Notre Dame, Karen never loses sight of her origins. She likes to read, spend time with her loved ones, and watch Baltimore sports (the Ravens and O's) in her free time.
