Frederick County is one of the fastest growing counties in the State of Maryland. Frederick County consists of Frederick City, Fort Detrick, Walkersville, Braddock Heights, Middletown, New Market, Lake Linganore, Buckeystown, and Urbana. Due to the rapid growth in the size of Frederick County, the Maryland State Highway Administration has authorized the expansion of many of its highways.

This increase in population, traffic and construction can be attributed to the rise of automobile accidents in the area.
