IMMIGRATION LAW:

Portner & Shure, P.A. handles various aspects of immigration law. Assisting professionals and their employers, family members and individuals with citizenship and naturalization is the main focus of our practice. Whether you are seeking to fill a permanent or temporary position, or you are sponsoring a spouse, parent, or child, we have the knowledge and experience to ensure that your labor certification, and/or visa petition is processed in a timely fashion.

Employment Based Visa

Whether you are seeking to hire a foreign worker for a temporary position, or you are seeking a more permanent position, there are a variety of employment visas available. The temporary visa categories differ whether one has a bachelor's degree, master's degree and/or doctorate degree. A temporary visa is available initially for three years and can be extended to a maximum of six years.

If you are seeking a permanent employee, then the employer must petition for a green card, lawful permanent residence for the employee. The green card process takes approximately two years.

Family Based Immigration

The most common form of immigration is family based immigration. If you are a United States citizen you are able to sponsor your foreign spouse, child, stepchild, parent, and/or brother and sister. If you are a lawful permanent resident you are able to sponsor your spouse, and/or child.

Citizenship and Naturalization

Citizenship is the most precious gift that the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service can grant. U.S. citizens can vote for their government officials, can work for the federal government, and obtain benefits only available to U.S. citizens.

Naturalization, the process in which a lawful permanent resident can obtain citizenship may seem daunting, however, we can assist you in preparing and filing your application.
